Drivers EducationLearning to drive is an exciting milestone! Driver Education is one of the most important courses that your son/daughter will enroll in. Our Driver's Education program helps students develop the knowledge and skills needed to become safe, responsible drivers. We offer both Classroom and Behind the Wheel Training to prepare students for earning their driver's license. S-M Classroom sessions are Winter Classroom Session (TBD Feb-April) and June Classroom Session. Our Behind The Wheel instruction runs continuously throughout the year. When a classroom session is scheduled, announcements will be made to the students in the daily bulletin and you can find the information on our Community Education registration site. Staples- Motley Driver's Ed Program Steps toward getting a Class D drivers license in MN Classroom Instruction- Students must complete 30 hours of classroom instruction. Class Fee $100.00 for S-M students Or $125.00 for Out of District Students We prefer that your student is 15 within 30 days of the last day of class. If your student will only be 14, please call the CE office for approval before registering. Students cannot take their knowledge test until they are 15. After 30 hours of instruction students are required to enroll in a Behind The Wheel program and get the E-Card which allows them to take the State Knowledge Driving Test. Test appointments are made online with the State. Behind the Wheel includes 6 hours of instruction in our district BTW car by one of our licensed BTW instructors. $270.00 for S-M Students Or $315.00 for Out of District Students After 6 hours of BTW instruction are completed and they have come into the office for their E-Card, they can make an appointment for the Class D Road Test with the State. Test appointments are made online.
